Song suggestion by The J.A.M

[...unWARP!!!]

Good evening.

This was a song I heard a while back, and I thought that it might more or less reflect Foxglove’s feelings for Dale. Now, I know that the situations this song presents are not exactly as one might have expected from the CDRR episodes, but the chorus is great, so when U read it, PLEASE try to be objective.

Also, I’m providing a literal/linear/word-for-word translation (except where colloquialisms are used), so you people can see more or less how we Hispanos deal with poetry. The verbs in the reflexive mood (to myself, to yourself) don’t translate too well, so bear with me.

Until next time, remember:

I AM THE J.A.M.

Good evening.

[WARP!!!]

Era la mitad del verano

[It]was the half of-the summer

En un rincón junto al mar,

In a nook next to-the sea,

Y yo soñaba en la playa

And I dreamed in[side] the beach

Con el hombre ideal.

With the man ideal.

Tenía tantos galanes

I-had [so]many hunks

Loquitos todos por mí.

Crazy-little-ones all for me.

Para poder elegir.

To be-able to-choose.

Pero el flechazo tardó en llegar.

But the arrow-hit delayed in arrive[ing].

Un chico tímido, algo especial:

A boy shy, something special:

Ojos azules, me enamorarás. . .

Eyes blue, [to]me [you]will-make-to-fall-in-love. . .[you will make me fall in love with you]

[yes, I know Dale doesn’t have blue eyes]

Tímido, búscame, te invito a una copa en el mar.

Shy-one, look-for-me, [to]you [I]invite to a cup in the sea.

Tímido, atrévete, ¿a qué hora podemos quedar?

Shy-one, dare-yourself, at what time can-we stay?

Tímido, mírame, se que te empiezo a gustar.

Shy-one, look[at]me, [I]know that [to]you [I]begin to like. [I’m beginning to make you like me]

Tímido, quédate, no voy a dejarte escapar.

Shy-one, stay[yourself], not [I]am-going to let-you escape.

Hubo una fiesta esa noche

[There]was a party that night

Y apareció con un frac.

And [he]appeared with a tux.

Yo me mordía los labios:

I [to]me [I]bit the lips:

¡Qué padre, qué tal!

How neat, what so! [check-it-out!]

Tímido, ti-tímido.

Shy-one, sh-shy-one.

Tímido, ti-tímido.

Shy-one, sh-shy-one.

Luego un rato bailamos

Then a while we-danced

Tocando la oscuridad.

Touching the darkness.

Creo que me has hechizado,

[I]believe that [to]me [you]have bewitched,

Vamos al puerto a nadar.

[Let]us-go to-the port to swim.

Tímido, ti-tímido.

Shy-one, sh-shy-one.

Tímido, ti-tímido.

Shy-one, sh-shy-one.

La luna nos sorprendió en el mar.

The moon us surprised in the sea.

Un solo beso y fue fatal:

One only kiss and [it]was fatal:

Se convirtió en estatua de sal.

Himself [he]transformed in[to] statue of salt.

Tímido, quédate, no voy a dejarte escapar.

Shy-one, stay[yourself], not [I]am-going to let-you escape.

Tímido, ti-tímido.

Shy-one, sh-shy-one.

Tímido, ti-tímido. . .

Shy-one, sh-shy-one. . .
